Dr. Xiao Qirui attends the 3rd EVO ICL APAC Experts Summit
Dr. Xiao Qirui attended the summit in Okinawa, exchanged clinical experience with refractive specialists from across the Asia-Pacific region and received three professional awards.
International summit in Okinawa
From March 15 to 17, 2024, the 3rd EVO ICL APAC Experts Summit was held in Okinawa, Japan. Dr. Xiao attended as a representative of the Purui Eye Hospital expert delegation.
More than 150 refractive specialists from the United States, Japan, Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and other regions exchanged research updates and clinical experience related to EVO ICL.
Dr. Xiao received awards recognizing 3,000 EVO ICL procedures, 1,000 EVO Toric ICL procedures and his work as a young EVO ICL ophthalmologist.
Cross-border clinical exchange
During the meeting, Dr. Xiao discussed developments in EVO ICL surgical workflows and shared observations from clinical practice in China.
He noted that more than 30 years of clinical use and follow-up have strengthened the evidence base for ICL, while its visual quality and correction range continue to attract patients with different levels of myopia.
Sharing a single-incision, viscoelastic-free technique
Dr. Xiao has worked in ophthalmic practice for more than 20 years and has extensive experience in ICL implantation and corneal laser surgery. He trained under Professor Zhou Xingtao and focuses on refractive surgery and myopia prevention.
At the 2024 Light of Shanghai conference and the 12th Myopia Care · SMILE Forum, he presented clinical experience with a single-incision, viscoelastic-free EVO ICL workflow.
He was also appointed to the Youth Expert Collaboration Group for intraocular lens correction.
Continuing professional exchange
Dr. Xiao said the three awards were an honor and that discussion with international colleagues was highly valuable. He emphasized that the healthy development of EVO ICL depends on rigorous, step-by-step clinical practice.
The summit provided the team with new perspectives on international developments and standardized practice. Shanghai Purui Eye Hospital will continue following technical progress and strengthening team-based clinical quality.
